1958
The foundation
Maryland's was founded in Sansepolcro, Tuscany, by Anna and Mario Falsetti, a husband and wife team. The decision to establish the company in an area historically linked to the art of knitwear and beauty immediately established a clear direction: to combine tradition and quality.
1960-1970
Craftsmanship and training
From the very first years of business, continuous training was a key element: several workers, after learning and experimenting with the trade, opened their own workshops, contributing to the spread of quality artisanal knitwear throughout the area.
1970-1980
The search for quality
With the arrival of new customers and partners, the company strengthened its selection of raw materials and invested in innovation, acquiring Bentley Cotton looms, still in operation today, guaranteeing the highest quality standards thanks to their unique mechanical capabilities.
1980-1990
The generational transition
Antonio, the founders' son, takes over the company and embarks on a strategic transformation: building an integrated vertical supply chain, capable of developing every stage in-house, from idea to finished product. The focus is on high-quality workmanship, particularly cashmere, cementing Maryland's reputation as a byword for quality in the industry.
1990 - 2000
Consolidation and new collaborations
During the 1990s, Maryland's consolidated its position in the high-end knitwear sector, progressively expanding its customer base. The arrival of international brands led to an increase in production and organizational standards. The knitwear factory invested in technical training for its staff and in refining internal processes, laying the foundation for increasingly integrated collaboration with the style and product departments of its partner brands.
2000 - 2010
Innovation and tradition
The machinery is updated with the introduction of Shima looms and an in-house programming department, enabling the production of complex processes in all gauges. Innovation goes hand in hand with artisanal tradition.
2010 - TODAY
A benchmark in luxury knitwear
Maryland's is recognized as a reliable partner for leading luxury brands, thanks to an approach that combines ethics, quality, and attention to detail. The company develops capsule collections, complete sample collections, and mass production, continuing to offer excellent workmanship, especially in cashmere.
